JCP&L rebates up to $10,000

Home Energy Rebates in Toms River

Toms River is mostly owner-occupied single-family houses, which is what most home energy rebates are written for. JCP&L pays for heat pumps, water heaters, appliances, thermostats and whole-home upgrades, and the state pays solar owners for the power they make. A battery rebate from JCP&L is not on the list. This page shows what we read on October 6, 2026, and how Toms River's housing changes the advice.

Toms River in numbers

The Census Bureau's American Community Survey (2020 to 2024) counts 46,504 homes in Toms River township and 38,047 that are someone's usual home. Owners hold 82.1% and renters 17.9%. Detached houses are 78.0% of all homes, attached houses 5.0% and buildings of two to four homes 3.0%. Compared with Newark, Jersey City and Atlantic City, this is the most owner-occupied and the most single-family town in our New Jersey set.

Why that suits Clean Comfort

JCP&L's Clean Comfort program is for existing single-family homes and pays the account holder, or the contractor if the customer signs that over. A town where most households own a detached house has almost no one left out by those rules. The condition that does matter is the old fuel. The old heating system must burn gas, oil or propane. Utility gas heats 85.4% of Toms River homes, so most homes meet it. Electricity heats 9.5%, fuel oil 2.9% and bottled gas 1.2%.

Newer stock, fewer old-house problems

Only 2.6% of Toms River homes were built before 1940 and 53.7% before 1980, while 19.4% were built in 2000 or later. Compared with Newark, where 23.7% predate 1940, there are fewer homes with unusual, hard-to-duct layouts. Still, any house needs a heating load calculation before a heat pump is sized, and air sealing before insulation, which JCP&L's Whole Home program requires.

Solar, with a clear caveat

Homeowners with a roof and no big trees are the people who ask about solar. New Jersey does not pay a cash rebate. It pays credits of $77 per megawatt-hour of power made, for projects registered on or after July 27, 2026, plus net metering and a property tax exemption. The federal credit ended. Get two quotes and check that the price makes sense without any federal money. See our solar guide for the details.

Batteries and outages

JCP&L has no home battery rebate that we found. PSE&G has one, but it is for PSE&G customers. The state has only a proposal for new battery help. If you want backup power, plan to pay full price and read our battery guide for the questions to ask.

Common questions

Does JCP&L serve Toms River?

Yes, JCP&L serves Ocean County, including the Holiday City section of Toms River. Part of Ocean County is served by Atlantic City Electric, so check your bill.

Is there a battery rebate in Toms River?

We found none from JCP&L or the state. PSE&G's battery rebate is only for PSE&G customers.

Can I get a rebate for a second home here?

Ask JCP&L first. The rebates are tied to the electric account at the address where the equipment is used, and we found no written answer for part-year homes.

Is there a federal tax credit for solar or heat pumps?

No. The 25C and 25D credits ended for work done after December 31, 2025.

Where do I start for free help?

Call 800-915-8309 (option 2) for JCP&L income-qualified weatherization, or Comfort Partners at 866-378-4345.
