Dryer rebates up to $300

New Jersey Appliance Rebates in 2026

Replacing a worn-out dryer, washer, refrigerator or stove is the one upgrade almost every household faces sooner or later. New Jersey's three big electric utilities all pay rebates on efficient models, and each has its own list and its own deadline. Here is what we read on their pages on October 6, 2026, side by side.

Leaving gas for electric cooking and drying

$200 to $400

Atlantic City Electric pays up to $250 for induction cooking and up to $200 for a heat pump dryer when you leave gas. JCP&L's Clean Comfort pays $400 for induction cooking and $400 for a heat pump dryer replacing a fossil fuel unit.

The amounts look close, but the rules differ. Most require an ENERGY STAR model, a receipt and your utility account number, so read the form before you buy.

Buy once, claim once

Each rebate is for one unit. Keep the receipt, the model number and a photo of the label. Most programs want a paid invoice with the date, so avoid cash deals without paper. If you buy at a store with an instant discount, you may see the amount taken off at checkout instead of mailed later. The PSE&G page splits its list into instant discounts and rebates you apply for after buying.

If you are leaving gas

The biggest appliance numbers are for homes moving from gas to electric. Induction cooktops and heat pump dryers sit in the programs for switching fuels. JCP&L pays them only inside its Clean Comfort project, so they need a heat pump or water heater job to go with them. Atlantic City Electric lists them in its electrification table with an extra $100 for induction for moderate-income homes. Talk to the contractor about adding a 240-volt circuit for the dryer or stove.

Renters

A tenant who pays an electric bill and buys a refrigerator or a washer may be able to claim the rebate, since the programs ask for a customer account and a receipt. We did not find a rule that blocks renters from the appliance lists, but we did not find one that allows it either, so ask the utility. Always ask the landlord if the appliance stays with the unit.

Free refrigerators for lower incomes

The state's Comfort Partners program lists replacement of inefficient refrigerators among its free measures for households at or below 250% of the federal poverty level. If that fits you, call before you buy a new one.

How to claim an appliance rebate

  1. Find your utility on your electric bill.
  2. Check the model on the utility's list or look for the ENERGY STAR label.
  3. Buy the appliance and keep the paid receipt.
  4. Apply online within the window for your utility, 120 days for PSE&G and JCP&L and 90 days for Atlantic City Electric.
  5. Wait for the check or credit, usually up to 45 days at Atlantic City Electric.
