HomePowerRebate ("we", "us") is an independent guide that helps homeowners understand home-energy rebates and, if they ask, connects them with trusted local installers. We're expanding from BC (now) to Ontario and California. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. We keep it simple because our whole model is: your choice, no spam, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
Only what you choose to give us through our forms and assessment tool:
- Email address — when you sign up for updates, get an estimate, or request a city.
- Home & estimate details — your city, how you heat your home, interest in solar/battery, and the rebate estimate we show you.
- Name and phone number — only if you ask to be matched with a local installer.
- City & region interest ("Request My City" form) — your name, email, city, region/state, and interests (heat pump, solar, battery). We use this to prioritize which cities to launch and notify you when we go live.
We do not ask for, or want, sensitive information like your exact income, financial account numbers, or government IDs.
How we use it
- To send you rebate guidance or newsletters you signed up for (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To connect you with trusted local installers — only when you request a match.
- To understand demand by city and region, so we know which cities to prioritize for launches.
- To notify you when we launch in a city you requested.
- To improve our guides and match quality.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send it to multiple installers.
- Your matched installers. If you request a match, we share your details with 2-3 vetted local installers for your city so they can contact you about your project.
- Service providers that run our tools. We use Resend (email delivery), Supabase (database), Google Analytics (site analytics), and Cloudflare (website hosting and form handling). They process data on our behalf, not for their own purposes.
- Legal compliance. We may share data if required by law, but will notify you when possible.
Cookies & tracking
Our site is a simple static website. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set basic technical cookies needed to serve the site securely.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the service, and until you ask us to remove it. You can request deletion at any time (see below).
Your choices & rights
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message, or by emailing us.
- Access, correct, or delete your information — just email us and we'll take care of it.
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and anti-spam law (CASL), we only send commercial email to people who've opted in, and we honour opt-outs promptly.
Children
This site is intended for homeowners and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do.
