Beacon Heat Pump Rebates 2026: Central Hudson

What Beacon homeowners can really get in 2026, checked against Central Hudson and NYSERDA on October 3, 2026.

Short answer: In Beacon, the main heat pump rebate is NYS Clean Heat (run by Central Hudson): up to $12,000 (Weatherized Tier, old system removed) for a whole-home system, taken off your contractor’s bill. It is one rebate — not several that add up. Lower-income households can get much more through EmPower+, and the federal tax credits ended on December 31, 2025.

How much is the Central Hudson heat pump rebate in Beacon?

Amounts for a single-family home. You get one line from this table, not several.

What you installStandardIn a Disadvantaged Community
Category 2 air-source, no decommissioning$4,000—
Category 2 air-source, Weatherized Tier$8,000—
Category 2b, old system removed$7,000—
Category 2b, Weatherized Tier$12,000—
Partial to full load$3,000—
Ground-source retrofit (Weatherized Tier $20,000)$15,000—
Heat pump water heater$1,250—

These are single-family amounts. Apartments and homes under 1,000 sq ft get about half ($2,000 / $3,500 / $1,000, or $4,000 / $6,000 in the Weatherized Tier). Central Hudson’s table does not list a separate DAC column, and its cap is 85% of cost.

What makes Beacon different

Beacon is a Dutchess County city on the Hudson, served by Central Hudson for electricity and gas. Many homes are 19th- and early-20th-century houses with little wall insulation, so air sealing and attic insulation before a heat pump usually lets you buy a smaller, cheaper system.

Beacon’s older homes near Main Street are often narrow lots with little room for outdoor equipment, so ask about wall brackets or roof mounts early.

Many homes here were built long before insulation codes, so a Comfort Home seal-and-insulate package is often the best first step before sizing a heat pump.

What does not stack

Clean Heat is the Central Hudson rebate, so never add the two together. Clean Heat is capped at 70% of cost (85% in a DAC). There is no separate federal HEAR cheque — New York delivers it through EmPower+. The federal 25C/25D tax credits ended December 31, 2025.

Income-qualified? EmPower+ can cover far more than the utility rebate. Check the state DAC map too — it can raise your amount.

What to do next in Beacon

  1. Ask where the outdoor unit can go on a narrow lot before you choose a system.
  2. Consider a Comfort Home insulation package first.
  3. Get 2–3 quotes and ask each contractor to show the rebate tier on the quote.

What you'll actually save each month

Rebates cover the upfront cost, but the number that decides whether this is worth it is the payback period — how long until the monthly savings pay back what you spent out of pocket. Here's the real math using Central Hudson's actual current electricity rate:

A modern cold-climate heat pump typically moves 2.5–3.5 units of heat per unit of electricity it uses (its "coefficient of performance"), which is why it beats electric resistance heating on cost even at the same per-kWh rate. Central Hudson's lower rate generally means a shorter payback period than the NYC/Long Island utilities. We didn't find a reliable current per-therm gas rate for Central Hudson territory to compare against — rather than guess, we're leaving gas-furnace payback math out until we can source it properly.
