What is open in Saskatchewan right now
Saskatchewan has less home rebate money than most provinces we cover. Two programs are open on October 21, 2026:
- SaskEnergy's Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate pays for replacing a natural gas furnace, boiler or water heater with a high-efficiency unit.
- SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program gives free energy-saving upgrades to homeowners, renters and landlords.
SaskPower's Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate ended in April 2026. We found no SaskPower or SaskEnergy rebate for heat pumps, insulation or windows. Our Saskatchewan rebate calculator shows only what is open.
Gas furnace, boiler and water heater rebates
SaskEnergy changed its terms on August 17, 2026. The rebate amounts now are:
| Equipment | Minimum efficiency | Rebate |
|---|---|---|
| Furnace | 97.0% AFUE | $325 |
| Boiler (per plant up to 300 MBH) | 95.0% AFUE | $750 |
| Combi boiler | 95.0% AFUE | $800 |
| Tankless water heater | 0.87 UEF | $1,000 |
| Condensing water heater | 0.80 UEF | $1,000 |
The unit must use natural gas, be new, appear on SaskEnergy's eligible equipment list, and be part of your primary heating or water heating system. New construction does not qualify, and neither do self-installs. A gas contractor licensed through the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan must install it, and the equipment you replace must be out of warranty. Applications and paperwork must reach SaskEnergy within 120 days of installation. Payment comes by cheque, e-Transfer or account credit within 6 weeks of approval.
Free upgrades from SaskPower
The Energy Assistance Program installs LED light bulbs, low-flow faucet aerators, a drying rack, high-efficiency showerheads, a block heater timer, pipe wrap and a smart thermostat if you are eligible. SaskPower says it can save up to $230 a year. The steps are to apply online, book an appointment, have a home visit with an energy coach and complete a short survey. CLEAResult runs it with SaskPower, the Government of Canada, the City of Saskatoon and the City of Swift Current Light and Power. Call 306-910-7304 with questions.
What has ended, and what we could not find
The Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate ended in April 2026, and SaskPower's page now points to the two programs above. We did not find the old rebate amounts on an official page, so we do not state them. We also could not find a provincial heat pump, insulation or window rebate. That is a negative result, not proof that none exists, so ask SaskPower or SaskEnergy before you plan around it.
Ottawa announced a National Heat Pump Rebate on October 8, 2026, expected to start in early 2027. How it will combine with Saskatchewan programs is not published yet. See our National Heat Pump Rebate guide.
