How much is the Central Hudson heat pump rebate in Saugerties?
Amounts for a single-family home. You get one line from this table, not several.
| What you install | Standard | In a Disadvantaged Community |
|---|---|---|
| Category 2 air-source, no decommissioning | $4,000 | — |
| Category 2 air-source, Weatherized Tier | $8,000 | — |
| Category 2b, old system removed | $7,000 | — |
| Category 2b, Weatherized Tier | $12,000 | — |
| Partial to full load | $3,000 | — |
| Ground-source retrofit (Weatherized Tier $20,000) | $15,000 | — |
| Heat pump water heater | $1,250 | — |
These are single-family amounts. Apartments and homes under 1,000 sq ft get about half ($2,000 / $3,500 / $1,000, or $4,000 / $6,000 in the Weatherized Tier). Central Hudson’s table does not list a separate DAC column, and its cap is 85% of cost.

Best case for a whole-home system; most homes get less, as the table shows.
What makes Saugerties different
Saugerties is a rural Ulster County town served by Central Hudson for electricity. Many homes have no gas line and heat with oil or propane, which are the most expensive fuels to keep — that makes a whole-home heat pump with the old system removed the best-paying option here.
Many Saugerties homes are on wells and septic and far from gas lines, and some are seasonal or older farmhouses. A home that is only lived in part of the year should still be sized for the whole house, since that is what Clean Heat pays for.
Long electrical runs and older panels are common in rural homes, so ask your contractor to check your service size early.
What does not stack
Clean Heat is the Central Hudson rebate, so never add the two together. Clean Heat is capped at 70% of cost (85% in a DAC). There is no separate federal HEAR cheque — New York delivers it through EmPower+. The federal 25C/25D tax credits ended December 31, 2025.
Income-qualified? EmPower+ can cover far more than the utility rebate. Check the state DAC map too — it can raise your amount.
What to do next in Saugerties
- Have an electrician check your panel and service size first.
- If you heat with oil or propane, get a quote that removes the old system.
- Get 2–3 quotes and ask each contractor to show the rebate tier on the quote.

Common questions
How much is the heat pump rebate in Saugerties?
NYS Clean Heat (run by Central Hudson) pays up to $12,000 (Weatherized Tier, old system removed) for a whole-home heat pump in Saugerties, depending on home size, whether you remove the old system, and DAC status.
Can I get the Central Hudson rebate on a rural Saugerties home with no gas?
Yes. Oil and propane homes qualify, and removing that old system earns Central Hudson's higher $7,000 tier for a single-family home ($12,000 in the Weatherized Tier).
Is the federal tax credit still available for heat pumps?
No. The federal 25C and 25D credits ended for anything installed after December 31, 2025.
