Short answer: Mass Save pays up to $8,500 for an air-source heat pump, or up to $16,000 (sometimes no cost) for income-qualified homes. Insulation is 75% to 100% off after a free home energy assessment, heat pump water heaters get $750, and the 0% HEAT Loan covers up to $25,000. It's for Eversource, National Grid, Unitil and Cape Light Compact customers, not municipal light plant towns.

Common questions

Why did my town not qualify for Mass Save?

Towns with a municipal light plant (like Belmont, Concord or Holyoke) aren't in Mass Save. They have their own programs and the state's MLP Z-Loan.

Did Mass Save cut its rebates?

Regulators cut the 2025-2027 Mass Save budget by $500 million in February 2025. Heat pump rebates of up to $8,500 are still offered.
