Where we started
Early on, our model was deliberately narrow: one vetted installer per city. The thinking was simple — no bidding wars, no five contractors calling you the same afternoon, one trusted relationship. For a handful of cities, that worked.
Why we changed it
As we expanded past a handful of BC cities into Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Massachusetts, "one installer per city" stopped making sense. A single relationship works when you're small. It doesn't scale, and more importantly, it doesn't actually serve homeowners as well as giving them real choice.
Our installer directories — built from verified Google ratings, reviews, and specialties — now show every qualifying installer in your city, filterable by heat pump or solar specialty, with a "HomePowerRebate Recommended" tier for standouts. You browse, you compare ratings and reviews, you pick. No lead auction, no forced single match, no data sold to the highest bidder.
What stays the same
What hasn't changed: we still never auction your contact information. No installer pays to be the "match" you're pushed toward. You browse real, rated businesses and choose — the model got broader, not the principle.
