Why we started with BC
British Columbia has the most coherent home energy rebate program in Canada: CleanBC. One heat pump rebate, one solar rebate, one insulation program — a homeowner can understand the whole system in an afternoon. That made it the right place to prove our model before expanding anywhere else.
What "complete" actually means to us
Every BC city page — from Vancouver down to Fort St. John — covers all 8 standard rebate categories: heat pump, solar, battery, insulation, water heater, windows and doors, EV charger, and smart thermostat. Not just the heat pump number that gets all the attention. A homeowner comparing what to upgrade first needs the full picture, and most rebate sites don't give it to them.
What we learned building 18 cities
Rebates vary more locally than most homeowners expect. Vancouver stacks CleanBC, BC Hydro, and a city-level top-up on top of each other. Kelowna runs on FortisBC gas instead of BC Hydro electricity, which changes the math entirely. Getting this right meant researching each city's actual utility territory, not assuming one province-wide number applies everywhere.
