How much you get
Eligible brands and models
Oakville homeowners get a flat $125 off one eligible smart thermostat under Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program, either as an instant discount code used at checkout or as a mail-in rebate after you buy. Six brands qualify: ecobee, Google Nest, Honeywell Home, Copeland Sensi, Mysa, and Sinopé. The rebate is capped at one per household, and current retail prices for each eligible model are compared below.
Compare smart thermostats you can buy
Oakville's larger lakeside homes often run zoned HVAC with more than one thermostat, so it's worth checking whether a brand's app handles multiple zones cleanly before buying two units.

Common questions
How do I get a free smart thermostat in Oakville?
There's no longer a free-thermostat giveaway in Oakville the way peaksaver PLUS used to run years ago. What's available now is Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program: a $125 instant or mail-in rebate on an eligible ecobee, Google Nest, Honeywell Home, Copeland Sensi, Mysa, or Sinopé thermostat, rising to $125 if you're enrolled in the program's Equity/Energy Affordability stream.
What thermostat brands are eligible in Oakville?
Six brands are currently eligible under the provincial program: ecobee, Google Nest, Honeywell Home, Copeland Sensi, Mysa, and Sinopé. The exact qualifying models change occasionally, so confirm the specific model number against the program's list rather than assuming every unit from those brands counts.
Your utility: Oakville Hydro
Oakville Hydro does not currently list a dedicated smart thermostat demand-response program on its site, unlike neighbouring Alectra territory. The $125 rebate below comes from the province's Home Renovation Savings Program regardless of who your electricity distributor is, so that's the number to plan around here.
