While many of its neighbours have folded into Alectra or Elexicon over the past decade, Oakville has kept its own municipally-owned utility, Oakville Hydro. The rebate amounts above don't change either way, since they're set provincially, but a locally-run utility can mean a more direct line if you need a panel-capacity sign-off, since there's no multi-municipality queue to sit in. We haven't found an Oakville Hydro-specific heat pump rebate stacked on the provincial one.
Oakville's winters, right on the lake
With Lake Ontario at its doorstep, Oakville posts some of the mildest winter numbers on this site: a 10-year average January low of -6.8°C (2015-2024) and a coldest recorded night of -27.0°C. That's milder than Richmond Hill or Peterborough, both further from the shoreline, and comfortably inside what a cold-climate heat pump (rated to around -25°C or colder) is built to handle on all but its single worst night on record.
What to do next
