What Ava offers in 2026
We read Ava's pages on October 5, 2026. Ava's pages describe programs but, for heat pump water heaters, publish no dollar amount, so we show none.
Ava rate options and bill help
Ava lists rate discounts for qualified customers, help with overdue bills and an auto-enrolled solar discount. Its default plan is stated to be 0.5% lower than PG&E, with 100% renewable plans also offered.
Ava rebates listed by Oakland
The City of Oakland lists Ava rebates for battery storage and induction stoves. We did not read the amounts, so check Ava's incentive finder.
BayREN EASE Home
Not an Ava program, but available in much of Alameda County: it pays 80% of weatherization costs and up to $2,000 for knob-and-tube wiring.
Net billing for new solar
Customers of PG&E, SCE and SDG&E applying for new solar after April 14, 2023 are on the Net Billing Tariff.
Federal 25C and 25D credits
They do not apply to 2026 installs.
What Ava is
Ava is a community choice aggregator. It buys the electricity for its customers, while PG&E still owns the wires and sends the bill. That split explains why you may see an Ava rebate, a PG&E rebate and a BayREN rebate for the same house. Each has its own application and its own rules, and none of them is a single program.
Where heat pump money comes from
We found no Ava cash rebate for a heat pump. Money for heat pumps in the area is more likely to come through BayREN, PG&E programs and state programs, which are covered on our PG&E page and the Bay Area city pages. Ava's heat pump water heater page says homes are eligible for rebates but gives no amount and points to its incentive finder, so run that tool with your address.
The incentive finder
Ava runs an online finder that returns federal, state and local incentives and tailors them to income, location and whether you own or rent. It is the right first step because the right answer depends on your household. Treat any amount it shows as something to confirm on the program's own page before you sign a contract.
Weatherization comes first
BayREN's EASE Home pays 80% of weatherization costs, which can cut the size of the system you need. Because a tighter house needs less equipment, many households sequence the work: sealing and insulation first, then the heat pump. Ask your contractor to quote both ways so you can compare the total.
Solar and batteries
Ava's pages cover residential solar, battery storage and net energy metering. New solar customers in PG&E territory are on the Net Billing Tariff, which pays far less for exports than the old net metering, so a battery matters more than it once did. Check Ava's page for any battery rebate and its rules.
How to claim help in Ava territory
- Check your bill for the Ava name to confirm you are an Ava customer.
- Run Ava's incentive finder with your address, income band and whether you own or rent.
- Check BayREN's EASE Home if you plan weatherization.
- Ask PG&E programs about heat pump rebates and income-qualified help.
- Confirm every amount on the program's own page before you sign.
