EV rebate up to $2,000

PG&E Home Rebates

PG&E has few cash rebates for home upgrades compared with the city utilities in California. Its biggest offers are for EV charging and for free upgrades to income-qualified households. This page lists what we verified on PG&E's own pages, and where other programs fill the gap.

What PG&E offers in 2026

We read PG&E's pages on October 2, 2026. Each card names the fact with the date and a source link. PG&E also lists a pre-owned EV rebate of up to $4,000 and a $300 generator and battery rebate on its rebates page, which we did not verify in detail.

Who PG&E serves, and community choice

PG&E delivers power across much of Northern and Central California. Many cities buy their electricity from a community choice provider such as CleanPowerSF, San Jose Clean Energy or Ava, but PG&E still delivers it. The EV rebate covers CCA customers too. Other rebates depend on your supplier, so check which company supplies the power on your bill.

What PG&E does not pay

We did not find a PG&E cash rebate for a heat pump, a heat pump water heater, insulation or a battery on the pages we read. PG&E's electrification page points to neighbourhood programs and free tools instead. If a quote claims a PG&E heat pump rebate, ask for the program page. For nearby cash incentives, look at your city or community choice provider, and see our pages for Fresno and Bakersfield.

The EV rebate in practice

PG&E's EV rebate is one per household, first come first served, and you must apply within a set period after buying the equipment. You need a battery or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle registered in California. The standard option covers up to half the price of PG&E-approved equipment. The Rebate Plus option is for lower-income households and can reach $2,000 for a charger or $5,000 for a panel and charger together.

Free upgrades for income-qualified homes

Energy Savings Assistance is available to renters and homeowners in a house, mobile home or apartment at least five years old, if household income is at or below the limit or the household is in a qualifying program. It can include a heat pump water heater, which makes it the closest thing to a PG&E heat pump water heater rebate. State and federal money adds little in 2026. TECH Clean California lists its single-family funds as reserved, the federal home electrification rebates are on hold, and the federal 25C and 25D credits ended after December 31, 2025.

How to claim PG&E help

  1. Confirm your power is delivered by PG&E.
  2. Check your income against the Energy Savings Assistance table first.
  3. For an EV charger, buy PG&E-approved equipment and apply within the allowed period.
  4. Look at your community choice provider and city for other incentives.
  5. Ask any contractor who quotes a PG&E rebate for the program page.
