What we found for Washington heating help
Each card names the official page we read on October 21, 2026. Dollar amounts are the state's own; anything it does not publish, we do not show.
Bill help
Financial help with your utility bill so you can stay connected.
Heating or cooling unit repair
Help repairing or replacing an unsafe or broken heating or cooling unit.
What the program offers
Washington's Department of Commerce runs LIHEAP through community action agencies and local partners. Depending on your situation you may get help with a utility bill, help repairing or replacing an unsafe or inoperative heating or cooling unit, and weatherization through the state's Weatherization Program, which makes the home more energy efficient.
Who decides
Commerce does not decide who qualifies or hand out grants to households. The local agency does. Eligibility depends on your heating costs, your household income and your household size. The state posts eligibility guidelines in a PDF on its page. We did not copy dollar limits here because the page text did not include them.
How to book
You must schedule an appointment with an organization that serves your area. Commerce provides a public map. Pick your county, and the tool shows the contact details for the agency and how to schedule. The state lists a contact for questions at LIHEAP@commerce.wa.gov and 360-725-2857.
The dates
The page was last updated on September 15, 2026 and gives no season start or end date, so we mark this as general information, not as open or closed. Call your agency to ask when appointments are available and what documents to bring.
What to bring
Bring proof of income for everyone in your home, a recent energy bill and photo ID. Agencies may ask for more, so ask at booking. If you rent, bring a lease or a note showing how heat is paid.
A longer fix
Weatherization appears in the same program for a reason: it lowers use. For rebates on heat pumps, thermostats and appliances, see the Washington pages below.
Why we show no season dates
Some states post a clear start and end date. Washington's page does not. It was last updated on September 15, 2026 and describes a year-round network of agencies. Because we cannot promise that money is open or closed, we label the page information, not a program with a deadline. If you need help today, call your county agency and ask about the next open appointment.
Renters and small landlords
The state lists help with repairing or replacing an unsafe or inoperative heating or cooling unit. If you rent, ask the agency whether they will work with your landlord on a broken unit. If you are a small landlord with a tenant who cannot pay, ask the agency how payments reach the utility. We did not read any state rule on this, so confirm before you act.
Keep records
After any visit, write down the date, the agency, the person you spoke with and what you were told to bring. If you are denied, ask for the reason in writing and ask how to appeal. A short record keeps your next call short.
Ask about language help
Local agencies serve many languages. When you book, ask whether they can use an interpreter or translated forms so that nothing is lost.
