What SDCP pays in 2026
We read San Diego Community Power's pages on October 2, 2026. Several programs are pilots with limited funds. Each card names the fact with the date and a source link.
Solar and battery savings
$350 market rate or $500 for CARE, FERA or community of concern customers with new solar and battery. $250 or $350 for a new battery added to existing solar. Plus $0.10 per kWh for evening discharge.
Smart Energy Rewards
$50 upfront for each approved smart thermostat (up to three) and each approved heat pump water heater (up to three), plus a small yearly reward. A pilot.
EV Flex Connect
Per eligible vehicle, mostly Tesla in the pilot phase, charged at home at least half the time.
Equitable Building Decarbonization
No-cost upgrades that can include weatherization, a heat pump water heater, heat pump heating and cooling, an electric dryer and an induction cooktop, for income-qualified households in identified communities.
SDG&E retail coupons
Coupons of $75, $40, $500 and $15 are listed on SDG&E's page, which also says the retail offerings have ended.
Who SDCP serves
San Diego Community Power buys electricity for San Diego, Chula Vista and several other cities, while SDG&E still delivers it. Escondido buys from SDG&E, so SDCP's battery rebate does not apply there. Check your bill for the supplier name.
The battery rules
The battery must be charged by the home's own solar, and the home must be a single-family house. You cannot be enrolled in ELRP or DSGS at the same time. The contractor applies on your behalf. The evening discharge payment of $0.10 per kWh applies when the battery discharges at least half its capacity in the program window. Pilot participants have different rules, so ask for the current terms.
Pilots can end
Smart Energy Rewards and EV Flex Connect are pilots. A pilot can close early or change its terms. Enroll early if you want it, and do not buy a device only because of a pilot reward. The $50 thermostat reward is a small bonus, not a reason to switch.
What SDCP does not pay
We found no SDCP rebate for a heat pump or insulation, and no general SDG&E heat pump rebate. The Equitable Building Decarbonization program is the main route to a free heat pump, and it is for income-qualified households. State and federal money adds little in 2026. TECH Clean California lists its single-family funds as reserved, the federal home electrification rebates are on hold, and the federal 25C and 25D credits ended after December 31, 2025.
How to claim an SDCP rebate
- Confirm your bill shows San Diego Community Power as the supplier.
- For a battery, pick a contractor who files the SDCP application for you.
- Install the battery so it charges only from the home's solar.
- Enroll thermostats and water heaters in Smart Energy Rewards.
- If your income qualifies, apply to the Equitable Building Decarbonization program first.
