Hydro-Québec LogisVert: up to $6,700, electric-heated homes

Quebec Heat Pump Rebates in 2026

In Quebec, the heat pump money comes from Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, and it is open now. It pays by the size of the unit, more for a cold-climate model, and it is for homes heated mainly by electricity. Rénoclimat, the other well-known program, stopped paying for heating systems, and the federal oil-to-heat-pump program closed on July 31, 2026. We read the Hydro-Québec page, its participant guide and the Quebec government pages on October 10, 2026.

What Quebec pays for a heat pump in 2026

Each card names the official page we read. Hydro-Québec's application portal is in French only, so we explain the steps below.

Open

LogisVert heat pump grant

$50 or $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C

Hydro-Québec says up to $6,700. The $120 rate is for ENERGY STAR cold-climate models. Your home's main heating must run on electricity, and a Quebec-licensed (RBQ) company must install it.

Open

Bonus for apartment buildings

$220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C

For owners of older multi-unit buildings in areas Hydro-Québec calls energy insecure, where tenants pay their own electricity. Cold-climate wall-mounted units only.

Open

Combine measures for 5% more

+5% of the total

File a heat pump with another LogisVert measure, such as roof insulation and caulking, in one application.

Open

Thermal storage and geothermal

$22,000, $15,000 or $750 per 1,000 BTU/h

Deducted from the installer's invoice, so there is no application. Thermal storage needs one of Hydro-Québec's authorized installers.

Info

Rénoclimat

No heat pump amount

Rénoclimat pays for insulation, air sealing and windows after an energy assessment. It no longer pays to install or replace a heating system, and its rules changed on October 1, 2026.

Closed

Federal oil-to-heat-pump program

Closed

The deadline to apply was July 31, 2026. People who applied in time can still file final receipts until January 31, 2027.

One example, using only the posted rates: a cold-climate unit rated 36,000 BTU/h at -8°C would earn 36 x $120 = $4,320. Your unit's rating at -8°C is on its spec sheet and in Hydro-Québec's eligible heat pump search, so ask your installer for it before you sign.

Who can use LogisVert, and who cannot

The rule that decides most cases is the heating fuel. LogisVert pays for a heat pump installed in a home whose main heating runs on electricity. That fits most Quebec homes, because most are heated with electricity. If you heat with oil, gas or propane, the LogisVert heat pump grant is not written for you, and you should ask Hydro-Québec before you buy.

The grant goes to the person who owns the home. Tenants are eligible only for the heat pump dryer and induction range grants. The unit must be new, ENERGY STAR certified, have an outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h of cooling, and be bought from a retailer with a Quebec address. Replacing a heat pump that failed, or swapping only one coil or one unit, does not qualify.

What counts as a cold-climate model

Hydro-Québec pays the higher $120 rate only for ENERGY STAR certified heat pumps classified cold climate. Before you buy, use the program's eligible heat pump search on the Hydro-Québec site and make sure the exact model is listed. A model that is on a store shelf is not always on the list. Buying first and checking later is the most common way to lose a grant.

Rénoclimat has changed

Many older guides tell Quebec homeowners to start with Rénoclimat for a heat pump. That is out of date. The Quebec government page says Rénoclimat no longer pays for installing or replacing a heating system and points to LogisVert instead. Rénoclimat still pays for insulation, air sealing, doors and windows after an energy assessment, and its rules changed on October 1, 2026. If you plan insulation work too, ask whether doing it under Rénoclimat or LogisVert suits your project better.

The new federal heat pump rebate

On October 8, 2026, Ottawa announced a National Heat Pump Rebate: up to $10,000 for below-median income households and $2,000 for others, with a launch expected in early 2027. The rules are not published. Hydro-Québec added a notice to its LogisVert page the same day saying details are not yet known and that LogisVert is still available and being processed normally. Whether the two can be combined has not been confirmed, so do not plan around stacking. Our National Heat Pump Rebate guide tracks what Ottawa has confirmed.

Should you wait?

If your heating system is failing this winter, do not wait. LogisVert is open today and pays after you install. If your system works and you can wait a few months, watch for the federal rules, but remember that Ottawa has not said what a Quebec home would receive or whether it stacks with LogisVert. Our guide on whether to wait gives a simple rule.

How to claim LogisVert, step by step

  1. Check that your home's main heating runs on electricity and that you own it.
  2. Search Hydro-Québec's eligible heat pump list for the exact model, and note its capacity at -8°C.
  3. Hire a company with the right RBQ licence and ask for an invoice that shows the model number, the BTU/h rating and your address.
  4. Keep your proof of ownership (a municipal tax bill or the first page of your deed), the paid invoice and photos of the unit's nameplate.
  5. Create a profile at the LogisVert portal (in French) and file within nine months of the installation. Emailed or mailed applications are not processed.
  6. Expect 10 to 12 weeks for processing. Approved grants are sent by mail.

Common questions

How much is the Quebec heat pump rebate in 2026?

Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program pays $50 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C for an ENERGY STAR heat pump and $120 for a cold-climate model. Hydro-Québec advertises up to $6,700. The final amount depends on your unit's rating at -8°C.

Can I get LogisVert if I heat with oil or gas?

The heat pump grant is written for homes whose main heating runs on electricity. If you heat with oil, gas or propane, ask Hydro-Québec before buying. The federal oil-to-heat-pump program closed to new applications on July 31, 2026.

Does Rénoclimat still pay for heat pumps?

No. The Quebec government page says Rénoclimat no longer pays to install or replace a heating system and sends people to LogisVert. Rénoclimat still covers insulation, air sealing and windows after an energy assessment.

How long do I have to apply for LogisVert?

You must file within nine months of the installation date. If you file several measures together, the nine months start when the first one was installed.

Is the application available in English?

Hydro-Québec's pages and participant guide are in English, but the LogisVert application portal is French only. You can phone program support at 1 833 396-1888 on weekdays.

Will the new federal rebate replace LogisVert?

Nothing says so. Hydro-Québec states LogisVert is still available. The federal rebate was announced on October 8, 2026 with rules still to come, so we cannot say whether the two can be combined.
