How much you get

Why this one needs an assessment

Windows and doors bundle into the assessment-required path alongside insulation, water heater, and air sealing. You need at least 2 of those upgrades — completing 3+ earns an extra $500 bonus.

Brampton doesn't have its own window or door rebate. The city takes part in the joint Peel Residential Energy Program with Mississauga and Caledon, currently a free Home Energy Coach pilot that can help you decide where window replacement fits against other upgrades — it's guidance, not funding. The dollar figures below are the standard provincial HRSP stack.

How to claim it

  1. Optional: check current availability of the Peel Home Energy Coach pilot for planning help
  2. Book an initial home energy assessment with a registered energy advisor ($600, refunded later)
  3. Get your custom report
  4. Complete the window/door replacement plus at least one other qualifying upgrade
  5. Book a follow-up assessment; the rebate arrives by mail within 60 days

Common questions

Are window and door rebates available in Brampton?

Yes. Brampton homeowners can get $100 per rough opening through Ontario's Home Renovation Savings Program, provided the window or door meets the ENERGY STAR rating for the climate zone and is paired with at least one other qualifying upgrade like insulation or a heat pump water heater.

Do all new windows qualify for the rebate in Brampton?

No, only ENERGY STAR-certified products rated for Ontario's climate zone qualify, so check the spec sheet before you buy; a standard big-box double-pane unit usually falls short of the rating even if it's marketed as energy-efficient.

Does Brampton have its own window replacement rebate?

No. Brampton takes part in the joint Peel Residential Energy Program with Mississauga and Caledon, currently a free Home Energy Coach pilot for planning guidance, not funding. The amounts on this page are the standard provincial HRSP figures.

Your utility: Alectra Utilities

Brampton's power is delivered by Alectra Utilities, the multi-city distributor formed when Brampton Hydro, Enersource (Mississauga), Horizon Utilities (Hamilton, St. Catharines) and PowerStream merged in 2017 — one of the largest municipal utilities in Canada by customer count. Because it's a province-wide rebate, Alectra's size doesn't change your windows and doors payout, but it does mean call-centre wait times and online account tools tend to be more standardized than a small-town utility's. If a window or door replacement triggers an electrical service upgrade, Alectra is who inspects and signs off.

What Brampton's winters mean for this upgrade's payback

Brampton doesn't get the lake-effect snow that hits towns closer to Lake Ontario's shoreline, but it still sees genuinely cold, dry winters typical of inland Peel Region — the 10-year average January daily low (2015-2024) is -8.3°C, with a coldest day on record of -28.9°C. Cold, dry air actually pulls heat through a poorly sealed frame just as fast as damp air does, so the case for replacing an old rough opening holds up regardless of the snowbelt geography.
