BC Hydro Battery Rebate: $5,000 vs $1,500
Short answer: BC Hydro pays $500 per kWh of battery. The cap is $5,000 if you enroll the battery in Peak Saver within 14 calendar days of the in-service date, or $1,500 if you pair it with solar and don't enroll. A battery without solar and without Peak Saver gets nothing. Tesla batteries are not eligible.

The rebate is also capped at 50% of installed cost. A 10 kWh battery works out to $5,000 at $500/kWh.
What Peak Saver asks of you
During winter peaks (November to March), BC Hydro can draw on your battery for events up to four hours long. You can opt out of an event, but opting out of more than half may cost you that season's reward. In return, Peak Saver pays a $500 enrollment reward and $250 each winter for a battery.
Don't miss the 14-day window
BC Hydro's terms say you must enroll within 14 calendar days of the in-service date for the higher rebate, and no exceptions are granted for late enrollment. Put it in your calendar, and ask your installer to confirm it's done. More on the 14-day rule.
Which batteries qualify?
Only batteries on BC Hydro's qualified product list, at least 5 kWh, installed by an HPCN member contractor. Check the list before you buy; it changes.
