Federal Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (Alberta)

The federal grant of up to $10,000 to switch from oil to a heat pump closed to Albertans on July 31, 2026.

What to do: Income-qualified Calgarians can apply to the Calgary Home Upgrades Program.

July 2, 2026 · Nova Scotia

Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (Nova Scotia)

Closed to new applicants on July 2, 2026 after funding ran out. A standby list is reviewed only if money frees up.

What to do: The Home Energy Assessment still pays up to $5,000, and moderate-income homes can add up to $5,000 more.

Calgary Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP)

Calgary's CEIP financing (up to $50,000 repaid on your property tax) is closed to new applications until winter 2026/2027.

What to do: Watch for the reopening, or check whether your town's CEIP is open.

Lethbridge and St. Albert CEIP

Lethbridge's CEIP is at capacity and closed to new pre-qualification. St. Albert is taking waitlist applications only.

What to do: Join the waitlist early; it's first come, first served.

Rebates that were cut (2)

July 6, 2026 · British Columbia

CleanBC Energy Savings Program (income-qualified)

New rules for invoices from July 6, 2026: heat pump rebates for switching from gas, oil or propane are now $13,000, $7,000 or $3,500 by income level, plus a $3,000 northern top-up for levels 1 and 2.

What to do: Check your income level before you get quotes.

July 2, 2026 · Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Moderate Income Rebate

The provincial top-up was cut from a maximum of $10,000 to $5,000. Stacked with the Home Energy Assessment, the most you can get is now $10,000.

What to do: Book a Home Energy Assessment first; it unlocks both.

July 1, 2026 · British Columbia

BC Hydro net metering

Net metering closed to new customers. New solar owners get the self-generation rate, which pays 10 cents per kWh for power you export.

What to do: Size solar for your own use; a battery helps you use more of it yourself.
