Payback depends on your system cost, roof, sun and how much of the power you use yourself, so there is no single honest number. BC Hydro pays $1,000 per kW of solar, up to $5,000 and no more than 50% of the cost. Ask your installer for a written estimate of yearly production and savings based on your own bills.
