What SCE pays in 2026
We read SCE's pages on October 2, 2026. SCE's marketplace lists some coupon offers without amounts, and another utility's page says the Golden State Rebates retail coupons have ended, so we mark those as something to check first.
Charge Ready Home panel upgrade
Up to 100% of a panel upgrade for income-qualified customers who install a Level 2 charger within 180 days. The existing panel must be under 200 amps.
Charge Smart and install discount
Charge Smart pays up to $100. SCE's marketplace gives $100 off professional charger installation, and there are time-of-use EV rates.
Smart Energy Program
A bill credit for enrolling an eligible smart thermostat in SCE's demand response program.
Energy Savings Assistance
Free home upgrades for income-qualified SCE customers.
SCE Marketplace coupons
Golden State Rebates instant coupons and Home Performance Plus in disadvantaged communities. No amounts on the page, and the retail coupons were reported ended.
Where SCE applies
SCE supplies or delivers electricity in San Bernardino, Ontario, Long Beach, Santa Monica and part of Moreno Valley. Riverside, Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and Los Angeles run their own utilities and have separate, bigger rebates. If you live in Riverside and read an SCE guide, it does not apply to you. Check the name on your bill.
What SCE does not pay
We found no SCE cash rebate for a heat pump, a water heater or a battery. TECH Clean California and the federal HEEHRA program are fully reserved for single-family homes and take new requests on hold only. The federal 25C and 25D credits ended after December 31, 2025. South Coast AQMD's GO ZERO single-family rebate resumed on August 28, 2026 with limited funding, according to the City of Santa Monica, so check it directly.
Free and income-qualified help
SCE's Energy Savings Assistance program installs upgrades at no cost for income-qualified customers, and Home Performance Plus offers a no-cost assessment and enhanced rebates in disadvantaged or low-income communities. If your household may qualify, start there before paying for anything, since a free upgrade beats a partial rebate.
Time-of-use rates matter more than rebates
With few cash rebates, SCE customers get more from picking the right rate. SCE offers time-of-use EV rates for home charging. Run your usage against the rate before you buy an EV charger or a heat pump, since a poor rate can cancel part of the savings. SCE's page lists the plans but not your savings, so ask for a bill comparison.
How to claim SCE help
- Confirm your electric bill says Southern California Edison.
- Check income eligibility first for the free and enhanced programs.
- For EV panel help, apply to Charge Ready Home before you buy equipment, and install the charger within 180 days.
- Enroll a smart thermostat in the Smart Energy Program to get the $75 credit.
