Battery pilot up to $550 per kWh

Pasadena Water and Power Rebates

Pasadena runs its own electric utility, and its rebates are small for heat pumps but newer for solar and batteries. PWP's solar and battery pilot, announced in April 2026, replaces an old claim that Pasadena had no battery rebate. These figures come from PWP's pages.

What PWP pays in 2026

PWP's rebates are for residential electric customers and funds are limited. We read its pages between September 28 and October 2, 2026. Each card names the fact with the date and a link to the source.

Who PWP serves

PWP supplies electricity and water in Pasadena. Burbank, Glendale and Los Angeles have their own utilities, and much of the San Gabriel Valley is served by Southern California Edison. Check the name on your electric bill first, since a city address does not tell you which utility serves it. PWP's page notes that the Southern California Gas Company may have additional incentives. We did not read that page, so confirm any gas-side amount with SoCalGas.

Why the heat pump rebate is small

At $170 per ton, PWP's heat pump rebate is a fraction of what LADWP, Glendale or SMUD pay. A typical 3-ton system earns $510. That makes PWP's rebate a small credit rather than a deciding factor, so compare the equipment price and efficiency rather than chasing the rebate. The insulation rebate has a limit of one per property every 15 years, so use it once and do it well.

The solar and battery pilot

PWP's pilot pays $0.60 per watt for solar and up to $550 per kWh for batteries. It is a pilot with limited funds, which means it can close without notice. Reserve funds before you sign a contract, and ask the installer to confirm in writing that your system qualifies.

What PWP does not pay

We found no PWP cash rebate for windows. A wall insulation rebate exists, but we could not verify its amount. State and federal money is mostly out: TECH Clean California and the federal home electrification rebates are reserved or paused in 2026, and the federal 25C and 25D credits ended after 2025.

How to claim a PWP rebate

  1. Confirm your electric bill says Pasadena Water and Power.
  2. Check the current rebate page for the item before you buy.
  3. Buy qualifying equipment and keep the invoice and nameplate photos.
  4. Apply through PWP's online form for the item.
  5. For solar and battery, reserve pilot funds before you sign.
