What CleanPowerSF pays in 2026
We read CleanPowerSF's pages on October 1 and 2, 2026. Credits are paid monthly after installation, so the cash arrives slowly. Each card names the fact with the date and a source link.
Heat pump water heater credit
$50 a month for 24 months. CARE and FERA customers get 12 more months. Needs permit compliance and an electrification rate such as EV2-A or E-ELEC.
Heat pump heating credit
Same structure: $50 a month for 24 months, with extra months for CARE and FERA customers.
Cooking, dryer and gas meter removal
Cooking credit is $50 for 3 months and the dryer credit is $50 for 6 months. For installs on or after April 14, 2026.
Residential battery program
Starts at $250 per kWh, capped at 15 kWh. Needs solar and PG&E's Solar Billing Plan, and the program is marked Coming Soon.
BayREN EASE Home
For single-family homes built before 2010 with income at or under 120% of area median, for PG&E customers across nine Bay Area counties.
How the bill credits work
A bill credit is not a check. A $1,200 heat pump credit pays $50 a month for 24 months, so you front the cost and wait two years to see the full amount. CARE and FERA households get 12 extra months, which lifts the total. Do the math before you assume the credit covers your cost.
A worked example
A San Francisco household installs a heat pump water heater and a heat pump for heating, both approved for the credits. Each credit is $50 a month for 24 months, so the two together are $100 a month, or $2,400 over two years. Add an induction cooktop credit of $150 and a dryer credit of $300 and the total reaches $2,850 in credits, paid out over time. A CARE or FERA household gets 12 more months on each heat pump credit. These sums use CleanPowerSF's published amounts, and the credits only start after the install passes permit checks.
Rate and permit rules
Credits need you to enroll in an electrification rate such as EV2-A or E-ELEC, and the installation must meet San Francisco Department of Building Inspection permit rules. An earlier version of this site said a load-shifting program was required. CleanPowerSF's page says an electrification rate. Check whether the rate suits your usage before you switch.
Who CleanPowerSF serves
CleanPowerSF is San Francisco's clean energy provider, and PG&E still delivers the power and sends the bill. A San Francisco address usually means CleanPowerSF, but confirm. BayREN's program serves PG&E customers in nine counties, so it also covers many CleanPowerSF households.
What CleanPowerSF does not pay
GoSolarSF cash incentives remain only for low-income customers, so most homes get no solar cash from the city. A solar inverter replacement program pays up to $3,000 for CARE and FERA customers who received a low-income GoSolarSF system. State and federal money adds little in 2026. TECH Clean California lists its single-family funds as reserved, the federal home electrification rebates are on hold, and the federal 25C and 25D credits ended after December 31, 2025.
