Short answer: Efficiency Nova Scotia pays up to $5,000 back on upgrades from a Home Energy Assessment: $300 per ton for a ductless heat pump, $500 per ton for a ducted one and $600 per ton for geothermal. A heat pump water heater gets $800. Homes without electric heat and under the income limits can add up to $5,000 more. The oil-to-heat-pump program closed on July 2, 2026.

How much is the Nova Scotia heat pump rebate in 2026?

$300 per ton for a ductless mini-split, $500 per ton of new capacity for a centrally ducted heat pump and $600 per ton for geothermal, through a Home Energy Assessment. Replacement heat pumps are not eligible, and total assessment rebates are capped at $5,000.

Is the oil-to-heat-pump program still open in Nova Scotia?

No. It closed to new applicants on July 2, 2026 when the funding was fully allocated.

What is the Moderate Income Rebate?

A top-up for homeowners with mostly non-electric heat and after-tax household income under the limits. It is now capped at $5,000 and stacks with the assessment rebates for up to $10,000 in total. It must be approved before the work starts.

Is there a solar or battery rebate in Nova Scotia?

Not for homeowners. SolarHomes closed in April 2025 and we found no current residential battery rebate.
