Michigan Rebate Calculator 2026: What Your City and Utility Pay

Michigan rebates depend on your city and your utility. Pick your city and what heats your home, and this calculator shows what is open today.

Short answer: Michigan has no single statewide utility rebate. Ann Arbor pays $4,000 for a heat pump. Lansing's Board of Water and Light pays $4,000 to $5,000 when a heat pump replaces a gas furnace. DTE pays $100 to $400 for a gas furnace and up to $600 for attic insulation. Consumers Energy pays $100 to $300 for a furnace and up to $475 for insulation. The state's MiHER rebates are paused for new income-qualified applications in five districts, and the federal tax credits ended after 2025.

Common questions

Is there a heat pump rebate in Michigan?

Only locally. Ann Arbor pays $4,000, or $5,500 for lower incomes. Lansing's Board of Water and Light pays $4,000 to $5,000 for a heat pump that replaces a gas furnace. DTE pays $150 to $1,200 for electric customers replacing electric heat. Consumers Energy pays $200 to $350 for replacements only.

Why is my total small for a gas home?

Most Michigan rebates for gas homes are for furnaces and insulation, not heat pumps. A gas home that switches to a heat pump usually gets no utility heat pump rebate, except in Ann Arbor and Lansing.

Is the state MiHER program open?

New income-qualified applications are paused in the Detroit, Warren, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Kalamazoo districts. Check the state page for updates.

Is the federal heat pump tax credit still available?

No. The 25C and 25D credits ended for work finished after December 31, 2025.
