As Vermont's capital, Montpelier is served by Green Mountain Power for electricity, and its appliance rebate runs through the same statewide Efficiency Vermont program as the rest of GMP's territory: up to $400 back on a heat pump clothes dryer or washer/dryer combo. Montpelier city government has also pushed its own municipal Net Zero by 2030 target, which means local weatherization and electrification outreach sometimes points residents toward Efficiency Vermont's programs more actively than a typical Vermont town, worth checking the city's own energy page alongside the state one.
Montpelier's downtown housing stock, dense and largely pre-1940, tends to have laundry either in a cramped basement or, in some multi-unit buildings, no in-unit laundry hookup at all. Where hookups do exist without an outside vent run, a heat pump dryer solves that directly since it needs no exterior exhaust, though it runs 20 to 40 minutes longer per cycle than a standard model. Efficiency Vermont's other relevant categories, a smart thermostat rebate up to $100 and a dehumidifier rebate up to $90, are worth bundling into the same application if you're buying a heat pump dryer at the same time; the paperwork covers multiple categories in one submission.
For lower-income Montpelier households, the state's voucher program (up to $1,200 toward one eligible refrigerator, freezer, or clothes washer) is a meaningfully bigger number than the standard appliance rebate and worth checking eligibility for before you buy. Common questions
Does Montpelier have its own city appliance rebate?
Not a separate dollar rebate. Montpelier's Net Zero by 2030 initiative drives local outreach and sometimes financing support, but the appliance rebate dollars themselves come from statewide Efficiency Vermont, the same as the rest of GMP's territory.
What's the heat pump dryer rebate amount in Montpelier?
Up to $400, the same figure Efficiency Vermont offers statewide, available to Montpelier residents through Green Mountain Power's territory.
Can I combine the appliance rebate with other Efficiency Vermont rebates?
Yes, smart thermostat (up to $100) and dehumidifier (up to $90) rebates can be filed in the same application as an appliance purchase, and Montpelier's own energy office can point you toward any additional local resources.
Your utility: Green Mountain Power
Green Mountain Power delivers Montpelier's electricity, while Efficiency Vermont administers the appliance rebate. The city's own Net Zero energy office is worth checking too, since Montpelier runs more active local electrification outreach than most Vermont towns its size.
