Maximize your savings

Can you combine programs?

Yes — if you qualify for multiple programs, you can often claim rebates from each (subject to program rules). Here's a realistic example:

Example: Metro Vancouver homeowner, BC Hydro customer

BC Hydro solar rebate +$5,000
BC Hydro battery rebate (enrolled in Peak Saver within 14 days) +$5,000
Peak Saver rewards (approx., over 10 years) +$3,000
Total $13,000

Watch out: skip Peak Saver enrollment (or miss the 14-day window after interconnection approval) and the battery rebate drops from $5,000 to $1,500. Your installer should handle this — ours do.

Always confirm eligibility with each program before starting work. Some programs have caps or rules about combining.

Getting started

What to do next.

Step 1: Know your utility. BC Hydro or FortisBC? Your utility determines which programs you qualify for.

Step 2: Check your income. Some programs offer free or heavily subsidized upgrades if you qualify by income.

Step 3: Get a quote. Contact an approved installer. Use HomePowerRebate to find one in your city →

Step 4: Apply for rebates. Your installer can help with paperwork, but you're ultimately responsible for applications.
