What Salem homeowners can claim
Salem is a National Grid town, and National Grid participates fully in Mass Save. That means Salem homeowners get the same statewide rebate amounts as Boston. All amounts below are in US dollars.
Heat Pump (whole-home)
Requires R-32 or R-454B refrigerant. R-410A systems no longer qualify as of January 1, 2026.
Heat Pump (partial-home)
For a heat pump that covers part of the home instead of a full system.
Heat Pump (basic)
R-32 or R-454B refrigerant only.
Heat Pump Water Heater
ENERGY STAR certified equipment required.
Insulation
75% covered for all Salem homeowners; 100% for income-qualified households.
Solar (SMART)
SMART program capacity is currently on a waitlist in parts of the state — confirm current status with Mass Save before assuming a payment rate.
Battery Storage
Toward a qualifying home battery.
Smart Thermostat
Often installed free during your home energy assessment.
EV charger rebates
EV charger incentives in Salem come through National Grid directly, not a flat Mass Save number — check National Grid's own program page for the current amount before budgeting for one.
