The honest answer: no dedicated HRV rebate in Cambridge
Ontario's provincial Home Renovation Savings Program (HRSP), delivered through Enbridge Gas and local electric utilities like GrandBridge Energy in Cambridge, covers heat pumps, insulation, windows and doors, air sealing, solar, smart thermostats, and a handful of appliances. Heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators are not on that eligible-measures list, whether installed on their own or alongside another upgrade. This isn't a technicality or a paperwork gap — we checked the program's own eligible-upgrades documentation directly, and ventilation equipment simply doesn't appear in either its assessment-required or no-assessment-required tiers.
Cambridge's mix of older Preston and Galt-area housing and newer Waterloo Region subdivisions means ventilation needs vary widely, but the funding answer doesn't change: no dedicated HRSP rebate exists either way.
HRSP has no HRV/ERV category for Cambridge homeowners, standalone or paired with another upgrade.
Enbridge Gas runs a separate ERV/HRV incentive, but it's restricted to commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings — not single-family Cambridge homes.

Why this matters if you're sealing up your Cambridge home
Air sealing, insulation, and window upgrades — all rebate-eligible under HRSP — make a home tighter, which is good for energy bills but can trap stale air, moisture, and indoor pollutants that used to leak out on their own. An HRV or ERV solves that by swapping stale indoor air for fresh outdoor air while recovering most of the heat. What actually helps pay for HRV in Cambridge
- Ask your HVAC contractor to quote the HRV/ERV as part of the same job as a rebate-eligible upgrade (heat pump, insulation, or windows) — you won't get a rebate for the ventilation piece, but bundling can reduce labour costs
- Check whether your project qualifies as a new-construction or major-renovation build under the Ontario Building Code, which can require an HRV regardless of rebate availability — in that case it's a code cost, not an optional upgrade
- Watch for the Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program's Ontario rollout; it isn't available here yet but has launched in five other provinces
